Do you or your organization want to learn Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)?
CPT Training & Consultation
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is one of the gold standard treatments for PTSD and can have a major impact on the symptoms and functioning of your clients with PTSD. Research tells us that practicing with fidelity to the therapy model improves client therapy outcomes and reduces burnout and secondary traumatic stress in providers. Participating in a formal training program that includes formal instruction (i.e. workshop) and ongoing consultation, increases the likelihood that you will continue to offer CPT, and offer it to fidelity.
With consultation, we can dive into the nuances of effective CPT. Including how to address chronic trauma, complex trauma, grief, moral injury, and adapt care to diverse populations in ways that preserve fidelity to the model.
To become a CPT provider you must be a licensed independent mental health provider. If you are a trainee, you must be practicing under the supervision of a licensed provider and you will not receive provider status until you are licensed yourself.
You must complete a 2 day CPT workshop, at least 20 consultation calls, successfully complete at least 2 cases, and demonstrate ability to implement the treatment.
Please visit the CPT training website linked below for additional details regarding requirements and fees.
For a case to be considered successfully completed, you must demonstrate solid understanding of key CPT therapy techniques and ability to practice to fidelity. You must also have at least one case that demonstrates a reduction in PTSD symptoms. Any concerns regarding your ability to successfully complete consultation will be discussed with you on an ongoing basis and your consultant will do their best to support you in completing.
If you have already completed a CPT workshop you may be able to complete your consultation hours with us. Please contact us to discuss individual or group consultation options.
A CPT training costs $2000 for a 2-day training. An optional additional day ($1000) or half day ($500) may be added to include more experiential practice.
Consultation is $250/hour and can be split for up to 8 individuals.
The CPT program also charges fees to apply for and maintain provider status, please visit CPT for PTSD for details.
In most cases, groups of providers from an organization will set up a package consisting of the 2 day workshop and ongoing weekly consultation for about 6 months. Virtual workshops can be organized for up to 8 providers. Please note the cost is the same, regardless of how many providers participate and reduced rates are not available due to cancellations or no shows. Larger groups may be accommodated with the addition of another CPT trainer.
In person training may be available, but trainer travel and lodging fees will be added to the cost of the workshop.
Please contact me using the form below for additional questions or to get started in setting up a training. If your group is larger than 8 providers, please state that in your message.
